1 Day
2 Byks
3rd April
4 Guys >> Yash , Anuj , Conrad , Saurabh <<

The day started off at 8am for the four of us...Met at 9am at the Kunde's petrol pump which was our start point...An unexpected 520kms journey was begun and we were off...With a hope that it would be better than the ones we had before...According to the calculations this was supposed to be our longest ride with a hope that it would be somewhere around 435kms and we would have been back by 7pm but it wasn’t so...this journey was astonishingly longer then it was expected to be...WHICH WOULD BE THE LONGEST RYDE OF OUR LIFE..!! Byks roaring at full throttle was something that was new to us during this journey…

Time just passed in a jiffy and we realized that we entered the Karnataka border in a mere span of 60mins...A Little photography here n there....n off to KARWAR…in 20 minutes and we were there...next we headed towards Honavar which is 60-70kms from Karwar...Coz it was the NH-17 and a very smooth road we were at constant 100-120 kmph cutting past the heavy vehicles. reached HONAVAR at dot 11.45am.There was a V-Junction at Honavar, one goin to Jog Falls and the other towards Murdeshwar. We headed the Murdeshwar way and were at our 1st destination (MURDESHWAR).It was around 12 noon as we approached the Murdeshwar Temple and as we were entering the locality a funny incident took place…we were stopped by the Karnataka cops....” Bikhnakars ” as they are they were dumb enough to fall for Saurabh’s learners licence with Anuj showing his brothers licence....hehe...But we had to shell 50 bucks coz we had to buy the stupid so called “KARNATAKA FLAG DAY” sticker..it had something up in kannada and we could not understand anything in it…But a 50 bucks escape from the cops ain’t bad deal…isn’t it?? *=P*

MURDESHWAR-Situated between Honavar and Bhatkal, 1 Km off the National Highway is the scenic holy place of Murdeshwar. The temple is about 12 Kms from Bhatkal. The temple here has been renovated recently and has some beautiful carving and a statue.A the roaring sea to the west, the towering hills to the east and the coconut and areca groves nearby the temple attracts a lot of devotees and tourists as well. Got to do a lot of photography here. The world’s tallest idol of Lord Shiva is at Murudeshwar, already famous for its ancient temple on the seashore. The idol of Shiva is 123 feet tall and has taken nearly two years to build. The idol was built at a cost of around Rs 1 crore by RN Shetty. It is designed so that it catches the sun’s eye and thus appearing sparkling. We ate some delicious veg. thali at Naveen Beach Restautant situated in the sea…. And guess what?? Just 25 bucks for one…woahh..!!

By 1:15pm we were done with food and were off to Bhatkal…This was around 15-20kms from here….From Bhatkal We took the diversion to Jog Falls…..A single lane road with hundreds of potholes every mile….Anuj had a bad time riding here with his hands aching so I took over the P200 and made him rest as pillion whereas the Karizma had no change in rider...This 75 km internal route was the longest part of the journey and we had a tough time on it...At around 3 we stopped at a waterfall with no water actually (J) for some photography…..Now there was a change in riders once again on the p200,I sat pillion to Saurabh on the karizma and Yash took over the 200…He held the geared bike for the first time in his life...Anuj was the pillion….This triggered a major problem for us…Saurabh and myself were moving slowly on the karizma coz we wanted Yash to get acquainted to slow riding first and once he would be use to geared bike we could get going faster but this dude moved ahead and we were left behind…suddenly there was a sharp turn and we figured the bike down with these guys lying on the road…a tempo was besides the two…a bad tym for all of us…but we had to keep moving…

Yash had fractured his hand in the bargain...We had to stop at Kargal at the government hospital…poor Yash got 3 painful injections…including one on his bum (J) that could make him survive the 250kms return journey to Goa....We could no longer delay the stay at hospital as it was 4 already and we had to make it to Jog Falls…We continued with Yash as a pillion on the karizma and me behind Anuj on the p200…it was just a 7-8kms journey to Jog Falls from here...At around 4:30 we reached JOG FALLS….It had taken us more than 3 hours to cover that bumpy 75kms track…a very bad experience but memorable one..thanx to Yash...!! *=P*

JOG FALLS-The Jog falls in Karnataka are magnificent falls, set in the wild and unspoilt surroundings. Nature here has not been disturbed for the tourist tappings i.e unneussary constructions and falling of trees. The Sharavati river crashes nearly nine hundred feet down forming four main channels named king, queen rocket and roarer. Just after the monsoon season or rainy season the falls are a magnificient and awesome sight to see.

The highest is the Raja (King) fall which falls 250 m below forming a 40 m deep pool. Next to it is the Roarer, while a short distance to the south is the Rocket it is called so aptly because it spurts great shafts of water out in the air, In contrast the Rani (Queen) over the rocks gracefully. We dint get to c a lot of water tho.but our aim was to have an amazing ride….n we were on par with dat.We left Jof falls at sharp 5 for home…

It was 7pm and we had made it to Honavar and by this time it was already dark and we had problems in speeding up coz there was oncoming traffic with the headlights on making it difficult for us to see the road ahead clearly….But that wasn’t a good reason for us to stop and we kept moving on n on….Entering karwar was a bad experience at this time coz it had hundreds of trucks on the road with all the dust in the air…man this was the worst part of the ride…we halted at Karwar and it was 9pm…my face looked as though I was a labourer…lol…

A sign of relief was felt coz now we had almost made it with a mere 75kms to go…the track was almost clear now with hardly any traffic on and that could make a speedup a lil bit…this wasn’t a long stretch but it was a stressful one as we were totally exhausted with a long day…but it was a memorable one…a 520kms journey came to an end…

SINDHDURG ryde

Yet another day and the time of excitement for the 8 of us...the day we were supposed to be ryding to MALVAN...a small town in the Sindhudurg district of Maharastra...a place where is the fort built by the mighty Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja...

We were 8 of us...Conrad, Swapneel, Anuj, Saurabh Dalvi(that's meeh), Vibhav Sawant, Vibhav Shetye, Dipak Kamath and Samrat...First four were the core riders whereas the remaining were for backup * =P *

It started off at 6:30 in the morning at Paulo bus stand..the one opp ktc margao...where 6 of us gathered and made a move for Panjim...as and on it had been decided that the border shud be crossed in 2 hours time...riding at speeds of 60-70 kmph wasn't a bad deal...We reached Panjim in 30 mins...met Anuj and Vibhav Sawant...one from Ponda and the other from Bambolim...

Five minutes halt and we were off to Sawantwadi...now we had to rush coz we were around 75 kms away from sawantwadi with just 90 minutes in hand..and more careful coz riding fast invites accidents...cruising at speeds of 65-75 kmph we reached the border in 50 mins...i was curious to know if we were on the ryte route so we decided to get it confirmed at the check post so we got that done and headed to sawantwadi...jus 40 kms more and there we had made it to wadi...that's actually the short-form of sawantwadi...according to the locals...a beautiful lake in the middle of the town cudn't resist us from doin some fotography so got our hands on the cams and did a lil clickin here n there...

Now heading for Kudal...around 16 kms from wadi...made it at around 9:30am and halted for breakfast coz we had a reli tiring ride yet and were hungry..so got the munching job done at a local dhaba...8 of us had the misal pav and 5 extra bread's each for jus 120 bucks...aint that cheap?? had it been the same in GOA...i would be ryding a new byk by now...hehe...

So moving to the the final destination now...around 25 kms from kudal...that's malvan...a beautiful place on the konkan coast...we made it there at 10:40am and were damn tired but the excitement to see the fort took the feeling of tiredness away...the fort is on n island so we had to make a journey by a boat..which we called the local titanic..* =P * 27 bucks per person per ride was pretty cheap and a stay for an hour to explore the fort aint a bad deal..thats what we had in mind...but i guess the hour wasnt enough to explore the fort.almost the size of an airport...lol..we held our nerves and ran all across the curvature coz the tym wasnt sufficient and going walkin would be a very bad idea...and offcourse a fotoshoot was necessary coz the view was spectacular with loads and loas of places for an extreme good fotography...the time alotted to us was limited with lods to explore and loads and loads of fotography to be done...so we kept our ass moving and clicking pics...it was 12:00 noon and we had finally made it up in a hurry....got into the boat and moved for the shore...at around 12:30 we left for the rock garden but unfortunately couldnt get tro coz it was underconstruction...so we moved for the Tarkalli beach..the place where we did somethin which we had never done before...RIDING ON THE BEACH...this was fun...coz it was the first time i saw anuj doin a burnout on hez karizma.. ;) and conrad accompanied him...here we did some awesome fotography and as usual it was the tym for some foooooooooood...lol...

75 rupees for a chicken thali wasnt a bad deal especially when you are hungry and the food is so delicious...i jus couldnt resist it and pounced on the meal...and at around 2:30pm we headed for goa...

On the way back i exchanged my dio with anuj's karizma...and we made a move...around 2kms away from kassal on a checkpost a cop stopped us and emanded to show him ur license so that he could do the entry in the registry book...as he was doin hez job a local came up with a camera in hiz hand...and all of us reacted...wtf?? this is anuj's cam andhow cud this local geddit?? when asked he told us that he had found it fallen near the checkpost...this was a shock for us but we reli appretiated what that person did...so we requested the cop to handover the cam to us but this guy didnt let us take it so easily..and demanded for a bribe..we gave him 30 bucks and ran away cursing the him...big tym...

The guys were gettin late so we had to rush and were at speeds of over 80 kmph on some stretches...i had the karizma in hand so i cudnt resist going full throttle..that was 120-125 kmph...this was amazing coz i cud feel the breeze at that speed and it was the very first time i had actually done 125 on any bike...that too a double seater...

We kept on moving and finally reached panjim...shuuush was our reaction cuz i had a serious butt ache and i cudnt get my ass on the byk nemore...we dropped anuj and vibhav sawant there and headed for margao..i got my dio back and anuj hez karizma...now we were almost done so i decided to go a lil slow...rydin at 60 kmph we reached margao in around 40 mins..it was 6:50pm..and a very tiring ryde had cum to an end...it was tiring but fun....am missing it already....

Finally d clock ticked 11:26am and i ran towards my byk...geared up vd jacked, helmet and gloves and boomed....lol....had a bad tym rydin in d traffic in goa but it wuz kinda okey cuz i had d excitement to reach Ambolim..this wuz d first tym i waz rydin alone fer a long trip...and it wuz 120kms..one way...so no jokes...
i started crusing frm Panjim onwards...took a halt at Hotel Green Park to checkout my messages and stack my cellfone and wallet into my byk storage...
I wuz in a hurry and i cudnt afford 2 ryde fast cuz d byk wuz get overheated and i wud hav2 halt....i wuz back on track...now it wuz d tym 2 check my tyre air pressure so tuk a halt soon....did d job n waited fer smtym so dat i cud give the engine some cooling....I made a move in 15mins and cruised at 60-70kmph...sum patches of road wer very pathetic...so hada standup on da footpegs o else i wud hav to suffer from buttache...hehe...i did go on full throttle but jus on d straight roads...the atmosphere wuz reli kewl and i loved it....i wasnt tired at all...and wuz fun rydin alone...singing all d way and crusing crusing crusing....wroooooom...
my next halt wuz jus before d Maharastra border...i got a refuel cuz i felt i wud hav ta shell out more cash to do so across the border...that took meeh 3 mins and i wuz off again...there came d border and i held my nerves cuz d roads now wer shit...absolutely shit...i kept on movin at crusing speeds...finally i made it to Sawntwaddi...took a couple o breaks ovah der to ask fer guidance on d directions to Ambolim...it tuk meeh around 10mins 2 reach d Ambolim ghat...and believe meeh d atmosphere ovah der wuz superb...i hadda jolly tym rydin on d ghat...it wuz quite lenghty and spooky...i wuz scared all d way cuz i wuz d onli person rydin out der...saw a couple o monkeys on d way..hehe...cudnt wait fer photoshootin out der cuz i hadda reach out 2 my pals who wer already waitin fer meeh at the Ambolim waterfall...i kept myself kool and diverted feomr d fear of bein all alone on d ghats...d weather out wuz cool and it kept meeh refreshed...after rydin fer 30-40mins i finally made it 2 da topmost point of d ghat....my frenz wer waitin out fer meeh der...dey wer happy 2 see me and wer shocked cuz i wuz quite fast....it wuz 01:35pm and i had covered d 120kms trip in 129mins....
We then moved to another place in search of a good rest fer FOOOOOOOOOOD...lol...ordered sum stuff fish...the Kingfish wuz YummmmY....did sum photoshoot out deh and it wuz tym to move fer d next spot....d road wuz sick sick sick...finally v made it 2 da spot by 3:20pm...and believe meeh we cudnt makeout d roads cuz d area wuz foggy...."FOGGY AT 3PM....FCUK FCUK"
We wer in search of d spot wherein we cud see the 11 waterfalls....but it wuz disappointin fer us cus d fog sopilt d show....none of d watells cud b figured out frm here...damn...
It wuz 3:40pm and we hadda make a move o else wue wudnt make it by 7pm...did sum photoshoots on d wayback....O and btw saw many many many monkies...Conrad hellowd hez broz....hehe...
these guys wer rydin quite fast and i wasnt in d mood to so i wuz left alone on d ghat again...wooohooo...lol...dis tym der wuz sum traffic so i had sum relief..hehe..v made it to d border...did sum refuellin and it wuz tym fer Conrad n Vibah to zoom..cuz dy had sum work and wer late already...Dipak,Pranav and myself wer crusin....we road nicely vdout takin ne risks on the way...it wuz d best ryde of my life eventho it wasnt the longest one....V made it 2 panjim and took the longer way out i.e. tro ponda cuz we hadda drop Pranav to d college...d roads wer full of traffic and it wuz irritatin 2 see trucks and buses all around ramming....damn...we wer short of tym and we hadda rip at ne cost eventho d roads wer loaded with vehicles...v dropped Pranav in ponda and moved fer margao..i dropped Dipak at hez place and fianlly made it fer my house..it wuz 7:20pm....woah...it wuz tiring but thrilling and d best day of my life....
